Our Top 5 Las Vegas Movies

Las Vegas has been the backdrop for many famous films over the past 80 years. Everyone has their favorites, but we wanted to share our personal Top 5 Las Vegas Movies.

#1. Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

I watch this movie before almost every trip to Vegas. Seeing the strip just helps get me excited for my upcoming vacation.

#2. The Hangover (2009)

This film is one of my favorite comedies of all time and another movie on my Vegas preparation playlist.

#3. National Lampoons Vegas Vacation (1997)

This is the movie that inspired this blog post since I just watched it on TV. It captures some of Las Vegas before all the megaresorts took over and my first trip to Sin City as a kid.

#4. Swingers (1996)

This is classic Jon Favreau film comedy and the movie that made Vince Vaughn and Ron Livingston household names.

#5. Rain Man (1988)

Who doesn’t want to go to Vegas and “take the house” like they did in Rain Man?

My Vegas Vacation Tip: Las Vegas is a magnet for famous celebrities and big movie budgets. You never know who you might see or if you may end up in a movie yourself. While we have never been caught on camera in a film, we have been near the sets of these films while we were in Las Vegas.

21 (2008) – Planet Hollywood Casino

We were walking through the casino when we found the tables blocked off and cameras were on the set.

Jason Bourne (2016) – Aria Resort & Casino

If you have ever seen this movie, you know that there are some big action scenes that were filmed on the Las Vegas strip. The behind the scenes commentary will show you how difficult it was to close the strip in to make this action-packed thriller. I know that our cab driver was about fed up with all the redirecting of traffic during while they were filming the movie.
