Las Vegas has about anything you want when it comes to finding a place to stay. We have stayed at over 25 different resorts in Las Vegas. We still have a few more on the strip that we would like to try and a few we don’t mind skipping. Unfortunately, as humans we can’t help, but go back to our favorite places.
After over 60 visits to Las Vegas, we have crowned our favorite Vegas Resort so far. Drum roll please…We rank the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas as our favorite resort that we have visited in Vegas. The Cosmopolitan is currently one of the newest resorts on Las Vegas Blvd. and boasts some of the trendiest stores and restaurants. It is also located in the center of the strip which makes it a great place to call home base during you Vegas vacation.
This was our first time actually staying at the Cosmopolitan. We had been inside many times shopping, having dinner, and enjoying some drinks, but I had never been able to plan a stay here. We were VERY fortunate and we were upgraded at the front desk when we checked in to the hotel. It was like hitting the jackpot as soon as we hit the casino.
My favorite part about our room was the FABULOUS view from our oversized balcony. Our room had 3 sliding doors to our own personal balcony and we used them all. We spent time on the balcony every morning and every evening. If you can score a room that faces the Bellagio fountains, you will get plenty of opportunities to see the fountains dance. Check out the view we had every night.
We really enjoy the restaurant collection at the Cosmopolitan. Our first meal was brunch at The Henry. I was finally able to try their signature Short Rib Benedict. It was pretty tasty and the perfect size meal to start the day. My wife opted for the Traditional Eggs Benedict. It was a little too much food for her, but she really enjoyed her meal. Since we had a late brunch, we decided to just grab some appetizers for lunch so we visited Holsteins Shakes & Buns. Holsteins is one of my favorite burger joints in Las Vegas so it was difficult for me to not want to order my favorite burger. The Gold Standard at Holsteins is absolutely, amazing and I highly recommend it if you visit Holsteins. Since we were here for a snack, we sat at the bar decided to try the ‘Philly’ Eggs Rolls along with a few beers.
For dinner we had planned on visiting one the most entertaining places on the strip, Rose.Rabbit.Lie. We enjoy Rose.Rabbit.Lie. , because you get to try many different tapas and enjoy some great entertainment while you eat. I was looking forwards to some caviar tacos. They are ridiculously small, but they are wonderful experience for your taste buds. Unfortunately, I made a rookie Vegas planning mistake and I didn’t notice they would be closed. This did give us the opportunity to try Beauty & Essex, one of the newer additions to the Cosmopolitan restaurant lineup. I wanted to get to the restaurant early since I had read about the pawn shop storefront at the entrance, but it was pretty uneventful and something you could probably skip. The restaurant is split up into many different sections. We were seated in a large dining room. I had heard that the noise level might be a concern and I thought that maybe it would be due to the music, but in our case, it was the large business group that occupied the dining room that made it almost impossible to hear across the table. Beauty & Essex also has a tapas style menu with many options. Being the planner of our vacation, I usually already have an idea what I want to order before I ever go out to eat. This is especially helpful when you have a rather large menu and your wife can never decide what she wants to eat. The waitress recommended that we order 4 to 6 items depending on the size of the dish. The first thing that I knew we had to order was the Grilled Cheese Smoked Bacon & Tomato Soup Dumplings. We were very delighted when we tried these little spoons full of flavor that take you back to your childhood snack. We also tried the ‘Chile Relleno’ Empanadas, Steak on Toast, Short Rib Mac & Cheese, Tuna Poke Wanton Tacos, Beauty & Essex Burger, BBQ Fries. Everything we tried was delicious, except I was pretty disappointed in the Short Rib Mac & Cheese. The dish lacked flavor and the short rib was not appetizing. I don’t know how we saved enough room for dessert, but we decided to try the “less, nyc” Doughnuts. These are sugar coated doughnut holes served with three different sauces. My favorites sauce was the raspberry sauce, yumm!
No matter what kind of mood you are in, you can find the right night life for you at the Cosmo. One of our favorite places to hang out is Bond. You can enjoy some music, drinks, and entertainment without the stuffy feeling like many other Las Vegas bars and clubs. This was one of the few trips that we skipped Bond. Instead we went to the most recognizable bars in the Cosmopolitan, the Chandelier Bar. You can’t visit the Cosmo without noticing this huge chandelier that surrounds this three-level bar. Each level is slight different and has a drink that is unique to that level of the bar. You this place, even if you don’t drink. Almost every visitor stops and takes a picture when they see this place. We also stopped by Clique, another one of our favorite lounges. This is one of the newer additions to the Cosmopolitan and it boasts some unique drinks that are made table side. We really like the Bow Street Banana. It is infused with Jameson and served with slices of bruleed banana. We also saw several people ordering the Up All Night which is served with sparklers that the server lights. It is quite a demonstration and you should expect the price of the drink to reflect all the extra effort.
We also had a BONUS for out room. A company was having a conference at the hotel and they booked the pool area for evening entertainment. Our room had a perfect view of the pool area and when we heard the music playing we were in for quite a surprise. They didn’t book a cover band or a local group. The group performing was the Zac Brown Band!
Overall, this was one of our favorite trips to Las Vegas. The simplicity of staying in a resort that has everything you want combined with a room that is luxurious enough to make you want to stay inside and relax. We were sad when it was time to leave and we didn’t want to go home, but every Vegas Vacation must come to an end. Now we can look forward to our next Vegas Vacation. – J&K
